Monarch Interiors: Fresh Design with Classic Appeal

Jennifer Monachino Seaman always had a knack for interior design. When she was a young girl hanging out at her grandparents' house, she'd look around each room and imagine what she could change, rearrange, paint or add. She knew she wanted to be an interior designer before she even realized what interior design really was.

When it comes to personal style, Jen's falls along the lines of "rustic elegance". Living in the country and being around nature, land, and plenty of space has inspired her home decor to be modern with a rustic backdrop. To keep things interesting, Jen is constantly looking for products that are durable but offer a quality, luxurious feel.

Monarch Interiors may be a one-person operation with Jen in the drivers seat, but she views her trade partners in the Cleveland area as her teammates. "I've built many longstanding relationships in the Cleveland area and I work hard to maintain them," Jen told us. One of those relationships has been a 15-year partnership with Edelman. "The location is great and my go-to person Anna is always obtainable and helpful. I can send a client in without me and I know Anna makes sure they are taken care of," Jen explained.

Aiming to make the design process an interactive experience, Jen always begins with a free on-site consultation. "It's important to experience the space, absorb it, and listen to what the client is looking to achieve," Jen says. "I like to gather as much information as possible right upfront, give the client a full design plan and then tweak as needed from there."

While everyone's must-haves depend on the individual space, Jen says the majority of her clients are looking to create a timeless concept that has an elegant appeal. "People don't want to be too trendy. They want a long-term solution; a nice mix of a fresh, modern look while staying with classic, transitional elements". Jen is regularly in attendance at industry trade shows and seminars to keep her clients educated on the latest interior design trends, products and concepts.
