  • How to Design the Perfect Wo/Man Cave

    Posted by Daniel Edelman on

Regardless of whether you cheered for the Falcons or Patriots, Superbowl-ers can usually agree on a couple important game-day details. The single most important detail, in our opinion, is where you watch the big game (or, really, any game). And nothing sets the tone like an immaculately designed cave.

Although rooms designed for the purpose of watching sports are typically called "man caves," we know a lot of women who are diehard sports fans. Which is why we're advocating for a name change. Cue: the wo/man cave. Woman approved. Man approved. Let's party.

Here are our top six tips for designing the perfect wo/man cave – a space you won't be able to get your family, friends or neighbors to leave.

    1. Statement Sink

First things first: every cave needs a mini-kitchen fitted with the essentials, like a strong and smartly designed sink. You don't want to move very far to craft a drink or a few snacks when you're deep into lounging. Add a wet-station to your wo/man cave so that your basic necessities are within a few feet. This Native Trails farmhouse style concrete sink in slate mixes masculinity with a touch of sophistication. The design is a game-changer.

    2. Professional Faucet

A high-quality faucet goes hand-in-hand with a statement sink. You shouldn't invest in one and not the other, so pick a faucet that matches your sink in both durability and class. One of our favorite collections is Dornbracht's Tara Ultra Series. The designs are simple, yet strong and undeniably elegant.

    3. Kegerator

We know. A kegerator is an obvious choice for this list. But, how about a double tap kegerator? This True Residential entertaining dynamo is definitely not for the faint of sport, as it accommodates two half barrel kegs. Diehard wo/man cavers only, please.

    4. Undercounter Beverage Center

Your space isn't complete without easy access to cold beverages. With True Residential's exclusive balanced refrigeration system, you can set temperatures as low as 33°F as well as enable a rapid cooldown function for warm beer emergencies. Hey, we've all been there. Plus, these compact undercounter beverage center's are beautifully designed and sure to give your cave a serious upgrade.

    5. Mirror Television

When not in use, televisions usually serve little aesthetic appeal. Electric Mirror televisions are different. Their advanced technology hides a LED HDTV within a frame, so when you're not watching a program your television looks like an ordinary mirror. Electric Mirror's are a great way to incorporate a television into a space without jeopardizing your beautiful interior.

    6. Toto Neorest Toilet

Promise us that you won't forget to include a bathroom. No wo/man cave—and we emphasize "no"—is ready for action until you have a nearby, comfortable bathroom. Complete with a heated seat, deodorizer and warm water sprays, Toto's Neorest is the definition of luxury. Won't it be nice to have peaceful breaks in between plays? Ps. once you use a Neorest, it is hard to go back to anything else.
